Tips for your first application

  • Refer to the job advertisement
    Read the job advertisement carefully and address the required skills in your application. Explain why you have these skills and give specific examples.
  • Correct addressing
    Make sure you address your application to the right person. The name of the contact person is often stated in the job advertisement. Addressing them directly shows that you are well informed.
  • Complete application
    Make sure you send all the required documents. This includes a cover letter, CV and references.
  • Individual cover letter
    Avoid copy-and-paste. Use templates as a guide, but formulate your own sentences. An individual cover letter stands out positively.
  • Formatting
    Design your document in a uniform way. Use the same fonts, font sizes and line spacing. Sans serif fonts such as Arial or Helvetica are easy to read.
